How Well Do You Know Your Partner?
You can read all the articles you like… Take the magazine quizzes and devour the relationship books. But there is NO foolproof way to know what’s going on in the mind of your partner.
I was reading an article about questions to ask your partner that will strengthen your relationship. It made me laugh. Out loud.
Here are a few of the suggestions…
Are you struggling with pornography?
Is there something in the past that you’ve never told me about because you’re too embarrassed or ashamed?
Do I dominate our conversations?
How would you rate our sex life on a scale of 1 to 10?
If I promise not to get upset, can you tell me something that you’d like to change in me but don’t have the nerve to tell me?
Hello? Who in their right mind would risk answering such loaded questions? You are kidding yourself if you think your partner is going to fess up that you’re lousy in bed. And do you really want them to???
There’s a good reason we can’t read each others minds and it’s called Privacy. Luckily, humans are naturally gifted in the art of lying… and sometimes lying is the best approach for protecting ourselves or avoiding hurting the feelings of others.
My point is… you can know a lot about your partner but there are some things you will never know with 100% accuracy - and it’s misleading to think you can take a quiz and feel satisfied that you have a perfect relationship.
If I had taken This Quiz a year ago - I would have easily scored a 20 putting me in the “Congratulations!“ category. Today I am separated.
Lucky for me I didn’t take the quiz or I would have been sadly disappointed!
