Are Virtual Affairs Cheating?
Give me a break. This is a no brainer. The things you do in the virtual world are basically the same as you do in the real world… without the physical contact. You meet a hot avatar… you chat for awhile and form a friendship. Pretty soon it gets personal and you’re talking about stuff that should only be discussed with your “real life partner”. And yes, you can even have sex.
The whole point behind a virtual affair is so that you can present yourself as the person you wish you could be instead of who you really are. You can be sexy, rich, have your dream job, change your gender and be any age you like. It doesn’t matter if you are lying because most everyone else does as well. It’s just a game right? Harmless fun.
Don’t kid yourself. Having a relationship at arms length is cheating. If you are fulfilling your need for intimacy and love from any source outside of your partner then you have definitely crossed a line. And as I’ve stated before, if you keep this relationship a secret then you already know you are being unfaithful.
If you are seeking something that’s lacking in your real-life relationship, just remember, that hot avatar you’re chasing could quite possibly be - Not the age nor the gender you thought he or she was!
